Late last night, we received the following text message, “God is GREAT! I fixed your son’s computer!” Graciously, Woody has devoted hundreds of hours to designing the Bridges of Light website and Ron has maintained the function of our computers. These skilled and faithful friends contribute greatly to our ability to communicate with you on a daily basis. Please take a moment to thank our Great God for Woody and Ron and ask for His continued blessing in their lives. Consider how you, too, can be a friendly bridge by which others might come to Christ. “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” Romans 10:17.

Strings Concert at North Dekalb Mall

Christi & Daniel Relax Before Playing Fiddle and Classical Music

Christi & Daniel Relax Before Playing Fiddle and Classical Music

Today at noon, we enjoyed listening to Christi and Daniel’s violins in the Food Court at North Dekalb Mall where they earned much needed “spending money” for next week’s trip to Cambodia. Afterward, we visited with Scotty and Cathy Hunt, before returning home for a visit with Gillian Morgan. How we would enjoy seeing all of our friends! When I learn how to insert a video in this blog, I’ll add the recording of todays “concert”.

Praises and Prayers

Praise the LORD! We’re scheduled to return to Cambodia on Saturday August 1st as English, Bible & 5th Grade teachers. We invite you to pray with us:

1) for personal and family integrity before the LORD and His Church,
2) for spiritual growth for our children (and their parents),
3) for effective ministry to missionary children like ours at HOPE International School in Phnom Penh,
4) for fruitful relationships with expatriate and indigenous Christians in a local church and a church planting movement.

Dr. Jeff Meyers (above center) led First Baptist Church of Conyers, GA in prayer this morning for God’s complete provision for our effective ministry to the people of Cambodia. Many responded with encouraging words and promised support. THANKS to all! Doug, Joy and Charity Estes (below right) of REAL LIFE Impact Ministries attended the service, pledging their partnership as a sending agency. In just eleven days, we’ll depart for another year of ministry. We deeply appreciate your prayers.

Reflecting God’s Heart for the World

Tim & Sheldon

A man of compassion and prayer as well as a sound teacher of the Word, a loving husband and father, and an eternal brother and friend, Sheldon Landy is the founder and chief servant of One Heart Ministries, “Reflecting God’s heart for the world through the relentless pursuit of reaching that one.”   It will be a pleasure tomorrow morning to serve with Sheldon and several youth in doing yardwork for two elderly women in our community.

Summer Missions Training

REAL LIFE Impact Ministries
Go Team! Working with Global Missionary Outreach and REAL LIFE Impact Ministries for the past two days has been a great blessing! These young servants of God intend to install a new roof, build a handicap access ramp, replace and repair windows, paint and caulk homes in West Virginia this summer while teaching boys and girls about Jesus! Thank you Doug and Joy Estes for the privilege of assisting in training! Grace and I look forward to attending Monday’s board meeting.

Comforting Other People In Need

Scotty Hunt
What a JOY to meet again with former University of Georgia room mate and the survivor of a terrible car wreck and sixty-two day coma, Scotty Hunt. As founder and president of COPIN Ministries, Scotty gives much of his time to victims of head trauma and other debilitating conditions, motivational speaking engagements, and his lovely wife Cathy, an elementary school teacher. A highlight of Scotty’s summer is serving special needs children alongside Joni Eareckson-Tada in the Blue Ridge Mountains. “He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”

Global Missions holds many challenges and delights. Watching our children grow in their relationship with Christ is high on our list of delights. Below, Josiah is pictured with Vuthueon’s 7th and 8th graders in the village of Memot, Cambodia (December, 2007). There, Josiah shared the Gospel by retelling the “Story of the Candy Cane” after giving each student a sweet colorful treat. Vuthueon (far left), as a teacher, earns $20/month and is expected to “eat rice with  the monks.” We brought him food, medicine, teaching supplies and spiritual support through prayer, Bible study and a classroom witness.
